Flood Victims….

Posted by Litlit on December 30, 2011 in Uncategorized |

Today some of my churchamates and church leaders went to the Church village to witness their first thanksgiving. While riding in a car, one fellow shared about her cousins’ experienced during the flood in our place that occurred last December 26.

According to my churchmate, her cousins climbed on the roofs of their houses, and they were waiting what would happen in their lives, and they even committed themselves to the Lord, if there would be no one would rescue them. But one of her cousins phoned our ex vice mayor and asked for helped. Right way, our ex leader responded and phoned the government official to send helicopters in the flooded area. And not long enough, there were three helicopters flying and rescuing some people and my church mate siblings had been rescued too. But their houses had been damaged and some the houses have been immersed in the water. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to witness the incident because I was at the other village at that moment. But I could still hear the sound of the helicopters. And I also thought that those helicopters were the media men who took coverage on the incident, but I was wrong because they’re the rescuers.

While listening to the conversation, I remember to what my sisters, brothers,  nieces and nephews told me that they saw two houses that were floating  and carried away with the water and they saw houses were being buried in the water. And according to my 10 years old niece, she saw animals floating too. And they described to me how big and strong the current were.  Actually, my siblings witnessed the tragedy clearly because our place is quite elevated and they could really see what had been happening in the flooded area. And my eldest brother went to the place where there have been families affected to help the flood victims. :-(
